Reminiscing.I look at you and wonder;
change has shaped you,
darling. I can't remember
how long it's been since

the end of our time?

You remind me of butterflies,
erratic nomads, magical. Yet
the end of our time
was ages ago, darling, you

maddening was our life, the one we had

liked the way we were, I know; but

maddening was our life, the one we had.
Darling, I can't remember
liking the way we were. So we sit,
and I look at you and wonder.

Frozen.They put new butterflies in the display
case--pinned wings, crucified for the world to
scrutinize. Frozen beauties, they say;
I'm reminded of that one day when you
said that we were going to change, and I
objected because I wanted us to last
forever, just "hellos" and no "goodbyes."
But I knew that we were fragile glass,
and a few more cracks meant we would shatter.
Now I see the butterflies, knowing that
we were they, put upon the platter
so the world could watch us die. Fragile, that's
what we were; porcelain emotions,
dissected and destroyed by others' notions.
